Auto Body & Paint
When restoring a vehicle’s finish or deciding to custom paint your automobile it is imperative that you have a great base to start from, that’s where we come in. At Alpha, our technicians are classic auto restoration specialists. We know that proper bodywork is the foundation of any quality paint job. When assessing an automobiles finish, whether the vehicle is a few years or even half a decade old, there will be imperfections that will need to be addressed prior to paint. These can range in complexity from light scratches, dents, paint bubbling, or even rust. By taking the time to properly address these and other potential issues prior to paint we can ensure a professional, long-lasting finish for years to come.

We create clear and easy-to-understand estimates while utilizing the most reputable suppliers for materials in the industry. Our unique quality assurance process enables us to meet your expectations in a timely and cost-effective manner.

In order to reveal any hidden damage, and ensure a solid foundation for new paint to adhere to, all of the old paint must first be removed. To accomplish this, we employ several paint removal techniques depending on the extent of any visible damage, as well as the integrity of the panels themselves. In some cases, we media blast the entire vehicle to remove the paint. In other cases, we use a combination of media blasting and chemical removal.

If the panels are too thin and can warp during the media blast process, we remove the paint chemically or mechanically. In the event that paint removal reveals that there is more damage than originally anticipated, we immediately notify our customers to explain our findings. Once a vehicle arrives in our facility, it is:

  • Disassembled, and the parts, inspected, cataloged and stored
  • Inspected on our frame rack to determine the extent of repair required for proper body panel fitment
  • Stripped and media blasted to bare metal
  • Etch-primed to protect the bare steel
  • Repaired free of rust and dents
  • Block-sanded smooth
  • Primed and finished
  • Critiqued for perfect panel fitment
  • Inspected and sent to our paint department

After the prep work on your vehicle is complete, the final step in the paint-and-body restoration process is applying paint to your automobile. When your vehicle is ready for paint, it is inspected using a method referred to as a wet down inspection. This reveals any fine ripples and imperfections that may remain even after multiple stages of sanding.

If necessary, the car will be primed and sanded once again to ensure a proper base in which to work off of.  This inspection involves a full wet-down inspection, which reveals any fine ripples and imperfections that may remain even after multiple stages of sanding. If necessary, the car will be primed and sanded once again to ensure a proper base in which to work off of.

After the wet-down inspection is complete:

  • The car is cleaned and masked
  • The body is then painted and clear-coated
  • The paint is inspected
  • The body is wet-sanded and buffed

Disassembly & Assembly

Prior to dis-assembly all projects are thoroughly photographed for future reference. By properly documenting your vehicle we are able to map out the course of action for your vehicle’s re assembly. This detailed process is integral to ensure that the reassembly process goes smooth and in a timely fashion.

Once properly photographed, the vehicle is then carefully taken apart, while noting any problems along the way. Parts and sub assemblies are inspected and shelved in a dedicated area specific only to your vehicle.

Each vehicle is carefully disassembled and all parts are categorized and labeled for that specific part. Parts are then inspected for repair, re-plating, painting, or replacement to restore the complete vehicle to its original like new state. If a part is not readily available and needs to be replaced we will attempt to locate one. If we cannot then we may fabricate any part needed during assembly.

During our dis-assembly and reassembly process, parts for each restoration project are labeled and shelved. From there they are cleaned and prepared for re-assembly. Detailed information is maintained at all times to ensure quality restoration of each vehicle and accountability for each part.

Interior & Upholstery

The experts at Alpha Collision and Alpha Car Care can make any interior idea a reality. From a 1 off custom interior, to a full restoration preserving the original elegance and integrity of the vehicle, we have the ability and resources to ensure the job gets done correctly.

We offer a wide array of interior and upholstery services that include:

Upholstery Repair

Time and use can take its toll on automotive interiors. We can repair seat bottoms, backrests, bolsters, armrests, center consoles, door panels, carpet, headliners, and more. By matching leather and vinyl to their original color, grain, and finish, we are able to produce a quality repair that looks brand new; as if it was never damaged.

Leather & Suede Upgrades

We can order or hand craft custom leather interiors, which meet or exceed the quality of factory interiors. We can design, fabricate, and install a number of upgrades that will drastically change the look and feel of your vehicle’s interior.

Leather/Vinyl Wrapping

We wrap steering wheels, shift knobs, and more! Due to the difficulty, complexity, and time involved with wrapping, many restoration shops are hesitant to offer this service. Although it can be a tedious, time consuming process our experts take pride in their work and produce a stunning end result.

Metal Fabrication

When restoring a classic car or modifying a current model vehicle, often times parts need to be formed or fabricated. Our team of metal fabricators has the experience to tackle projects of any size and type. We can fabricate and modify parts for virtually any vehicle.

Most custom metal fabrication starts out as a design or concept developed on paper or digitally that is then turned into a physical wire mockup. This developed mockup serves as a model concept of the part or piece that is being fabricated and shaped. By fabricating and shaping in this method, we are able to save an incredible amount of time designing and developing parts for your restoration or custom application.

Classic Auto Restoration Specialists offers the following metal fabrication services:

  • Door skins
  • Trunk lids
  • Running boards
  • Fender altercations / repairs
  • Floor pans
  • Custom interiors
  • Custom suspension
  • Deck lids
  • Firewalls
  • Custom body panels and frames
  • Rumble seat lids
  • Steel hoods
